Three things most Christians lack

Three things most Christians lack

There are three major virtues that most Christians lack that devalues their Christian life and practices. This piece intends to call attention to them and to better our Christian lives. They are written within the lines and I would like you to discover them yourself as you read through. Read with curiosity, keep a broad-mind and when you discover them please make concerted effort to change if you discover that you lack any one of them. The blessings of God is upon those who call upon Him in spirit and in truth; delight thyself in the Lord and He shall grant all your heart’s desires.

The name ‘Christian’ means christ-like people, or people parterning their lives after the similitude of Christ Jesus. But so many of us lack the primary virtues that made the life of Jesus so unique and examplary. Jesus’ personality was so charming that everybody liked him including the Sanhendrins who later plotted his death out of envy. They became jealous of him because of his wealth of knowledge of God and the miracles that followed his ministry. We were first called Christians in Antioch. After the people who dwelt there saw the lifestyle of the early Disciples of Christ they said these people are Christ-like.

The natural man cannot be like Jesus or live the Christ-like life, because he is carnal. Jesus was not born of the law of carnal commandment but of the will of the Father through the power of the Holy Spirit. This is why the scripture says: except a man is born-again, he cannot become a member of the family of Jesus. Because he that is born of the spirit is spirit and he that is born of the flesh is flesh. To be born-again is to acquire a total mental rebirth through the word of God. Untill your actions, inactions and communication is patterned after the standards slated in the Bible then you are not yet a born-again. If you are working contrary to the word and will of God you cannot receive anything from God, because to be carnally minded is enmity with God.

patienceMost Christians lack PATIENCE because they do not know the kingdom ways. They want their miracles now-now and they don’t care to know whether their prayer is in line with the will of God or not. Patience is supposed to be the foundation of the Christian faith but most Christians lack this virtue.

Patience comes from knowing God through His word; knowing that He is faithful and shall fulfill all that He has said He will do concerning you. Though it may tarry but it will surely come to pass. (Read Ezekiel 12:21-25 and Isaiah 55:9-11). Most Christians tremble in the face of trials and temptations and some even backslide to their old lives during periods of trials because they do not know God and His ways.

At a time the Apostles asked Jesus, we that have forsaken everything to follow you, what shall be our reward and Jesus answered them saying; you that have left everything to follow me shall get one hundred percent back of everything you have lost in this world with persecution, and in the world to come eternal life with me in my Father’s kingdom.

This is also applicable to all that have given their lives to Jesus. Persecution is the will of God for His children. The Bible says that the Lord chooses His saints from the furnance of affliction (Isaiah 48:10, Romans 8:20-21). Trials will surely come because it is the will of God, but only a good knowledge of the ways of God can help a Christian scale through this period. God allows us to go through trials so that He can train us thereby and strengthen our faith. Trials will only come to a person that God has chosen to promote or take to another level.

perseveranceMost Christians lack PERSEVERANCE. If God never spared His only begotten son how much more we that He has given His covenant of adoption, to be co-heirs together with His son Jesus. You can only persevere in the face of troubles if you are full of the knowledge of God’s ways and if His word dwells richly in you. (Read Romans 5:1-3 and Luke 4:1-4).

The Bible said in Romans 8:28 that all things work together for good unto them that love God and are called according to His purposes. If you are going through trials now, let the joy of the Lord be your strength and wait on the Lord, He did not forget you. Finally my brethren be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, let not your hearts be troubled, God is ever faithful.

The Devil’s major weapon against Christians is the spirit of lukewarmness, backsliding and murmuring. So many Christians will go before the altar of God to cry, saying God what do you want me to do that I am not doing? Why is my life like this? Am I the worst sinner? Brethren our Father considers these words blasphemous. You are not suffering because you are the worst sinner; God is using your current circumstances to prepare you for your future, and if you stop murmuring and complaining and start thanking Him, it would not be long you will begin to sing a new song. God does not forget or abandon people.

persistenceMost Christians lack PERSISTENCE in prayer and doing what they know is right before God. Just a small delay they will start looking for another way and murmuring. Brethren whatever that prayer cannot solve, nothing else can help. Quench not the spirit, remain steadfast in your faith and continue in your prayers until something happen. Don’t give up! We need patience, perseverance and persistence to run a successful Christian race. (Read 1Peter 5:6, 1Thessalonians 5:16-20 and Galatians 6:9).
